Farewell Scooby

This goodbye was a tough one. Scooby was Tichka’s first city friend and her male counterpart. They looked a little alike and they played a lot alike. They loved to chase each other and wrestle every day at the park.

When Scooby moved out of the city, we saw him less and less over the years. Recently we were trying to plan a meet-up, but sadly it just didn’t happen in time.

After being together for just over 13 years, on May 26, 2014 Anne made the difficult decision to say goodbye to her beloved boy.

These are her words:

Scooby found me on March 4 2001 and he was about 6- months old at the Toronto Humane Society. I believe that our pets choose us and he certainly chose me. I loved my first dog and I will love the next dog that finds me, but the bond I had with Scooby was special…he was the best $100 I ever spent. He was always up for an adventure and he was great for my (dog-walking) business Camp Scooby. He rode shotgun beside me in the van every day…he also allowed a few of his old pals up in that seat too. He took care of our gang. He was great with shy and timid dogs and taught them how to play with toys and other dogs. He was a referee between squabbling dogs and seemed to know who started the fight and they were on his radar from then on. He was always up for a chase, cats were his first choice but snapping turtles, foxes and even a few weeks a ago a coyote. He had a zest for life, a curiosity (that could have killed him), a boundless energy but also he had this gentle loving energy with kids/adults that were afraid of dogs. I miss him and will miss him terribly, but I know that my life was enriched greatly by his presence. If there is a heaven for dogs I know that he will be running in the fields chasing cats and more. Some of his favourite people and dogs are already there and they can show him the way until of coarse he takes over as pack leader. Scooby was a great dog with a big heart and lots of fun but I would not allow him to suffer. Hugs to my sweet boy and thanks for the time we spent together.  ~ Anne

Farewell Scoobs. I will never forget the way you enthusiastically ran towards us in the park, nor your extremely loud seal-like bark.
