the broken puppy fund

i just came across this lovely story and i had to share it with you.

the beautiful puppy, pictured below, was found last week in middle of the road near lumberton, north carolina by scott macleod, a local musician.

hope

she was a stray, around 8 months old and had been hit by a car. both of her back legs were broken. scott rushed her to the vet who advised him that he should have the puppy put to sleep.

scott, thankfully, did not care for that option and so continues this inspirational story.

scott, and his wife rebecca, found an orthopaedic surgeon to help fix the puppy’s legs, who they aptly named hope. her surgery on monday was successful, and today she returns to scott and rebecca, where they will care for her all through her extensive road to recovery.

please visit scott’s blog to see more pictures of hope, read about her surgery and recovery, and to see what can be accomplished with a little hope and a lot of love.  there is also a place to donate to the “broken puppy fund”. as most of us with animals know vet bills can be pretty steep yet worth every cent. you can’t put a price on the unconditional love you receive from an animal.

as a momma to three gorgeous furry rescues, this story touches my heart.

thank you to phetched  (a place to find the coolest dog stuff around) for bringing this story to my attention.

Hope is one lucky puppy to have been found by Scott. I think about where Belinda might have ended up if she hadn’t been rescued and it terrifies me.
