a special bond

i was thrilled to capture this lovely and unique extended family, forever bonded by the birth of the newest member.

baby severn (born on june 30, 2009, weighing in at 6 lbs 9oz) was carried by a surrogate…his very own aunt sabrina.

sabrina, looking fantastic after giving birth only days before, gave the most amazing (not to mention completely selfless) gift in the world to her sister kristie and brother-in-law christopher.

severn’s big brother, 3 year old cirrus, was obviously excited about his new baby brother. he continually showered severn with kisses and kept telling him “what a good boy!”…which made us all laugh. 

sabrina’s beautiful daughter cadence (and her monkey pal, bob) also joined in our photo shoot.
